14 New Library Techs Graduate

Diablo Valley College's Library Technology career education program graduated 14 new library techs with Certificate of Achievements this spring. Through a contract education partnership with the Oakland Unified School District, the DVC library created a customized curriculum for a cohort of clerks already assigned to libraries throughout the district. Over two years the group devoted Saturdays to complete the 19-unit program. The graduates are eligible to promote from library clerk to library technician, earning a larger salary, and have new skills to offer improved library services to the students of Oakland.
