Currently in its eighth year, Gleeditions.com (Guided Literary E-text Editions) is produced by Gleeditions LLC, whose team of academics previously generated library print references (as Moss Publishing), including the highly successful award-winning, multivolume series Literature and Its Times and World Literature and Its Times (1997-2007), distributed via Gale Cengage.Directly serving colleges and universities with customized access to Gleeditions.com, the Gleeditions team offers an academic literary database that features four content lines:
1) Newly Annotated E-text Editions: The equivalent of currently favored print editions (Arden, Folger, Oxford), these online texts include new, instructor-generated and vetted annotations that guide students through close reading that unpacks the text complexity of literary works (e.g., Shakespeare plays). Also included are informative period illustrations and concise historical context.
2) Multigenre E-text Editions: A collection of preferred editions of fiction and nonfiction, these e-texts span multiple genres (novel, short story, poem, play, essay, speech, memoir, political document) and equip users with their own, personal online notetaking feature.
3) Shakespeare Videos: The collection includes premium clips from celebrated stagings of the corpus of Shakespeare plays (BBC, PBS, London plays, Shakespeare festival worldwide, college/university productions). For major plays, the collection provides an array of multiple stagings of the same scene, allowing for comparison and contrast.
4) Multigenre Videos: The collection covers multiple genres. For stories, plays, and memoirs, it features choice clips of renowned U.S. and U.K. productions in film and theater (Paramount, Tristar, Broadway plays, Old Vic Theatre, Repertorio Espanol). For speeches, poems, and documents, the collection features readings (by authors, actors, orators, poets). The database currently offers more than 340 e-texts and video clips on the site. Titles are added through the year, free of additional charge.
