  • Tuesday, March 5, 2024, 11a - Empowering Change Together: Student Perspectives on Equitable Online, Digital, and Blended Learning (webinar), Online Learning Consortium: Authors of recent report will share their discoveries on student perceptions of digital learning, focusing on the question: "What does quality digital learning centered in diversity, equity, and inclusion look like from a student perspective?" Authors identified seven key themes.
     
  • Tuesday, March 5, 2024, 12-1p - Trends in Emerging Tech (webinar), California Library Association (CLA): This webinar is part of an ongoing series. Each session will cover new tech and tools, and how they can be used.
     
  • Wednesday, March 6, 2024, 10-11a - Asynchronous Learning and Scalar: A Beginner’s Experience with Creating Learning Modules (webinar), Lifelong Information Literacy (LILi): Learn about lesser-known user friendly software and app options that could help librarians (especially those who are newer to asynchronous learning) with creating learning objects. One such possibility would be Scalar, a multimedia digital publishing platform. Presentation will give an overview of how a librarian with limited online education experience used Scalar to produce a learning module for an upper-level undergraduate seminar.
     
  • Wednesday, March 6, 2024, 11a - Author Forum (webinar), ACRL Distance and Online Learning Section: Author will discuss practical takeaways for instructional training and design of library instruction, specifically single sessions; summarize the research methodology (Delphi technique) used in this study; and explore research and writing strategies for personal use.

  • Wednesday, March 6, 2024, 11a - Providing Accommodations for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Patrons In Your Library (webinar), PCI Webinars: Provides legal requirements for communication access under the Americans with Disabilities Act, and provides a guide to effective use of accommodations such as interpreters, captioning, front-line communication techniques, and more. 
     
  • Thursday, March 7, 2024, 9:30-11a - Begin with a Strong Foundation: Developing a Data Plan (webinar), Research Institute for Public Libraries: Interactive session, to learn how to develop a data plan by: Determining your priorities. Considering Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) implications, Defining success, Incorporating stakeholders’ viewpoints.

  • Friday, March 1, 2024: 2024 Bridging the Spectrum Symposium, Department of Library and Information Science at the Catholic University of America (online): Forum for sharing research findings, best practices, and works in progress in library and information science. Keynote speaker: Emily Drabinski, President of the American Library Association (ALA).

  • Moral Injury in Libraries Strategies for Healing & Growth (presentation), Colorado Library Consortium: Library employees often encounter ethical dilemmas that challenge their professional integrity and lead to internal moral conflicts. Moral injury is a concept that originated in the context of psychological and emotional distress experienced by individuals when they are exposed to situations that violate their deeply-held moral or ethical beliefs.

  • March 1-15, 2024: Communities: Community-Based Librarianship, Network of the National Library of Medicine: This 2-week online course is an Introduction to the concept of community-based librarianshipusing design theory and appreciative inquiry.
     
  • Tuesday, March 5, 2024, 9a-1p: Adopting Artificial Intelligence in Libraries, Library Journal: Half-day live workshop & Three-week course (time commitment: 4 hours for workshop, then 1.5 hours per week).
     
  • March 5-April 16, 2024: Library Supervision and Management, Infopeople: In this self-directed course, you will find weekly readings, useful resources, and practical assignments. Each week, learners will be expected to interact in the online discussion forums and complete an assignment. The instructor will participate in the discussion forums and will provide feedback.
     
  • Thursday, March 7, 2024, 9a-1p: Creating Safer Libraries: Foundational Tools for Librarians and Frontline Staff, Library Journal: Half-day intensive course offering new and innovative strategies to prioritize safety in your library.
     
  • May-November 2024: Library Freedom Institute (LFI): Library Freedom Institute is a free, intensive, six-month privacy and intellectual freedom virtual training for librarians. This curriculum will give them the tools they need to become privacy champions in their libraries.Throughout the course, each participant will spend 1-2 hours a week asynchronously working on a project to be shared with the LFP community. Applications due Monday, March 18, 2024.
     
  • April 9-May 20, 2024: Technology in Libraries, Infopeople: Interactive 6-week course, presented asynchronously with the integration of readings, video, discussion forums, online meetings, and assignment options. Learners will be provided with essential resources, best practices, and useful tips and techniques that can be applied immediately in their library.  Free seats available via California Libraries Learn.
     
  • Self-paced: Introduction to Designing for Accessibility, @ONE: Designing with usability/accessibility in mind gives ALL students the chance to learn more effectively. This self-paced mini-course will introduce you to strategies for identifying and eliminating barriers to learning in your Canvas course.
